This necklace is one of my favorites because it just happened.
It bears absolutely no resemblance to the original idea. Many of
the beads are favorite colors of mine - peach, olive, warm brown. Most of
the "special " beads are relics from my beading past or from my mother's
years in Hawaii. The beads themselves are so laden with memories of past
peoples and places, they took on a life of their own and just sort of arranged
themselves. It is one of my typical "architectural" type necklaces and is composed of ladders, netting, single strand fringe and surface embellishment. All my necklaces tie on with hand braided ties. This particular piece features old picasso beads, a steatite scarab, dentalium shell, "money Tusks", abalone pieces, Egyptian faience beads and some Chinese turquoise, plus Hawaiian coral. I have finally gotten enough materials together to be able to offer a limited supply of this popular necklace as a kit. Keep checking the kit ordering pages for availability. |
